About Us

It all began the weekend before Welcome Week at ACU. Lisa’s family was meeting her second cousin, Amy Jo, for the first time for lunch at Luby’s. Amy Jo’s best friend from high school, Dusty, came along for lunch. Sparks didn’t fly that first day, but when Lisa and Dusty found out that they were in the same Welcome Week group they were definitely relieved to see a friendly face. Maybe it was the giant game of Twister, the long phone calls, or the walks to McDonalds, but Lisa and Dusty realized very quickly that together they were better than they were apart. And they have thanked God for bringing them together ever since.
The Proposal:

After over three years of dating, praying and growing together, Lisa and Dusty decided that they didn’t want to live without one another. So, one beautiful day (Dec 13, 2005) while on a senior trip with ten of their closest friends, Dusty led them on a trek to the bottom of a beautiful waterfall in Tennesee. At the bottom of the falls, Dusty, an avid photographer, set up his tripod to take a group photo in front of the waterfall. He set the timer for the camera, and as he ran to jump into the picture he got down on one knee and asked Lisa to marry him! After recovering from her shock, Lisa said yes as their friends cheered. They were then blessed to be surrounded by their friends with prayers of joy and thanks.
